I’m Liz from With Wonder and Whimsy, and I’m back with my second guest post for We Love Colors! (Read my first one on 10 Reasons to Give Tights a Chance here.) I wanted to share one of my favorite styling tips for cooler weather: winterizing your favorite dresses with tights! Tights can help you stretch your wardrobe, especially your summer dresses and skirts, by making them wearable all winter long. We Love Colors tights come in 50+ colors, so there’s a shade to match every dress in your wardrobe. Plus, tights keep you warm while making winter dressing more colorful and fun!
Of course We Love Colors has you covered when it comes to basic neutrals, but they have lots of bolder, brighter colors too! That’s why I wanted to spotlight three of my personal favorites for fall and winter: Navy, Spruce Green, and Rust. I styled each pair with a dress from my closet to show how easy it is to take a dress from spring/summer to fall/winter with tights. I’m wearing my favorite style of We Love Colors tights in all three colors, their solid Nylon/Lycra Microfiber Tights in Style #1053.
The Style# 1053 is super stretchy, durable, and opaque. I want tights that are snug and smoothing without rolling down. And these fit the bill! I have them in a dozen or so colors, and they stand up to repeat wear. See how I styled them below:
These navy tights take a whimsical print dress from summer into fall. The tights pick up the navy polka dots in the dress and ground the look for colder weather. A vegan leather biker jacket and velvet pumps warm up the look and keep it colorful. Navy is a versatile and approachable color and a great first step away from neutrals and into bolder hues. It pairs beautifully with light and dark pinks, mustard yellow, red, and blue.
Spruce Green is one of those colors that feels inherently wintry and festive. The tights instantly transform and elevate this shirtdress into a high fashion look. They pick up the green in the print and create a nice contrast with the shell pink dress. Spruce Green is a bolder color, but paired with a black biker jacket and pumps, it feels easy to wear and yet still exciting. Try pairing it with shell pink, mauve, ivory, and bronze and rose golds.
Step out in a bolder like rust this holiday! It’s such a vibrant and rich shade for fall and winter. Pair it with a floral print, and it’ll instantly lend it a vintage, romantic feel. I applied the same strategy of picking a tights color to pull a minor color out of my dress print. I simply chose a bolder color to show that the same principle still applies. First we tried navy, then we moved into spruce green, and now we’re getting more experimental with rust. It pairs beautifully with other earth tones, warm pinks, and rich blues.
Colorful tights are a simple way to winterize your wardrobe and refresh your summer dresses for the colder weather. Add a jacket and boots, and you have a go-to formula for wearing your favorite dresses and skirts all winter long!
